Whoops! I got all caught up in writing this week and completely forgot to do a Thursday Thirteen! However, I had some handy inspiration available, provided by my favorite Italian singer/songwriter (and sometime Facebook buddy). And so, I give you:
13 Things About
Samuele Bersani
1) Today is his birthday! Samuele was born on October 1st, 1970.
2) He was born in the city of Rimini, Italy.
3) His first album, C'hanno preso tutto (They Have Taken Everything) was released in 1992. The cover featured the famous sweater, seen here in the first single, "Chicco e Spillo."
4) In 2000, Samuele won the Critics Prize at the Sanremo Music Festival for his song, "Replay."
5) He has released six albums and a "Greatest Hits" compilation (called Che Vita!) to date.
6) His career was launched by Italian singer/songwriter Lucio Dalla.
7) Samuele is a huge admirer of the late Fabrizio de Andre', and recently covered the song "Il Bombarolo" as a tribute.
8) The majority of his publicity photos are done by his longtime partner, photographer Monica Silva.
9) He is frequently found out and about in Bologna, Italy, where he has lived since the early nineties.
10) The city of Bologna honored several famous residents by displaying their images on the ancient city doors, last year. Samuele was one of those chosen for the honor.
11) On a more personal note, his song, "Chiedimi se Sono Felice" is the source of the title of my previous novel, "Ask Me if I'm Happy."
12) In July, he released a single called "Ferragosto," named after the Italian summer holiday period from mid-to-late August.
13) He has a new album coming out tomorrow (Yay!) called Manifesto Abusivo! Can't wait to get my copy.
And for those of you who only come here for one thing...
I give you one of the other inspirations for Davide in "Ask Me if I'm Happy."
He's a favorite of mine, too, you know.
And well worth a scrolling, you'll agree, I'm sure.
Here you go, ladies (and gents of a certain persuasion):

Happy B-day Samuele. What? Couldn't find any pictures of him in full-candy mode? ;) And I'll have you know the eye candy is hardly the ONLY thing I come here for.
I'd never heard of Samuele; but I did enjoy listening here. The eye candy definitely made the scroll worth while.
Calico Contemplations
@Anni - Samuele is at best a cult listen, in the US. Well worth seeking out, though. And Luca is rather "Wow!" at times, isn't he?
@Alice - trust me, I've looked!
@Adelle - understanding the words? Is that important? LOL! That's how I've learned half the Italian I know, anyway. ;-)
@Inez - indeed...
@Sophia - he sings like a dream, trust me.
@Calico - glad you liked it! Come back soon! :-)
@Ella - I assure you, he's matured very well. Just like us! ;-)
@Stephanie - ;-) right back at'cha!
Oh wow! There's just something about a man singing in Italian. Mmmmm. Great videos.
And how cool that most of his photos are taken by his partner.
@Jennifer - Samuele and Monica are a quadruple threat - they're *both* gorgeous and talented. How is that FAIR?
LOL!
Have not heard of him before but...nice!
(Adelle - You don't have to speak the language to appreciate good music!)
I had not heard of him either - thanks for teaching me something new!
Interesting facts! Love the eye candy! LOL!
hugs*

Fun facts. And, of course, nice eye candy. Thanks!
Great eye candy. Great Thursday 13. Never heard of Samuele but I enjoyed learning about him.
Never heard of him and I'm glad his Mr. Huxtabel sweater didn't deter me from scrolling down to see his eye-candy pic!
I haven't heard of Samuele, but I liked what I heard. :)
Lest there be any confusion, ladies, remember - the eye candy is Luca Argentero, an actor and model here in Italy... :)
Deep soulful eyes, and the eye candy was sweet too.
Happy belated TT.
Janice~
