Thirteen Portraits of My Family

Hullo, all! :)
Welcome to this week's Thursday Thirteen.
The topic this week?

Thirteen Portraits of My Family

1) - My Mom, in Lake Lure, NC last summer.

2) My hubby, up on Chimney Rock, during the same vacation.

3) My niece, Mia, during one of my Wednesday babysitting sessions.

4) Mia, again, during that same session.

5) The hubby, while he was getting ready to go grocery shopping and I was in bed with a bad back.

6) Mia, during an outing last January.

7) Hubby and Sophie, sleeping before the rugby match on TV.

8) Okay, he's not family, strictly speaking. Fabio, our friend and hairstylist.

9) Sophie, discovering the joy of sinks!

10) The hubby's cousin, Marco, during a dinner to celebrate two birthdays and an anniversary (my SIL's, her hubby's, and Alle's and mine, respectively).

11) The hubby and his auntie at the dinner. (She was the chef.)

12) The happy family - Alle's sister, her hubby, and Mia.

13) The hubby and me, courtesy of his sister.

14) Bonus pic - Mia and her grandpa, Paolo.

Now, after all that sweetness, do we really need any candy?

Oh, we do?

Um, Okay. Hang on a minute...

You gotta be kidding, if you thought I was serious.

Here he is, y'all!

13 Photos of Italians in Uniform

Thirteen Photos of Italians in Uniform

Here at Profoundly Shallow, I often find myself hoping to share some aspect of my life that folks elsewhere in the world might not be familiar with. As an American in Italy, certain things just kinda-sorta jump out at me that might not be noticeable to the average Italian.

Like uniforms, for example.

I still get quite a kick out the police uniforms here in Italy. I mean, they're just so darned... Snazzy!

Italian Highway Police
(I love the second picture because of the officer in the middle taking a photo of the Lamborghini. LOL!)

Italian Municipal Police

Don't you agree?

And then, there are the specialists.

Italian Forestry Police. (No, I don't know why they're in town...)

And then, of course, there's the military...

Italian Folgori (Paratroopers)

Italian Carabinieri (Military Police)

And can you believe there are still those who wear uniforms as elaborate as these?

Italian Corazzieri - the honor guard of the President of the Italian Republic

Italian Alpini - Elite Mountain Warfare Solidiers

Cadets from the Miliary Academy in Modena, Italy.

Never mind the feathers. He's still pretty bad-ass. ;)

My personal favorites - the Bersaglieri, a high mobility infantry unit. Why are they my favorites? Because they can do this!

Awesome!

Yes, I know - I lost track of how many pics I posted. To be fair, some were repeats (and the video, too, I believe). Still, I hope you enjoyed these, at least a little.

And, no, I didn't forget.
